73rd Floor

View from Taipei 101, Google office (Click on the image for a better look!)

I took this picture from Google's Taipei office. It wasn't the greatest photo, but I decided to experiment with the title shift effect. I think it turned out alright. I'm going to try and take more photos tomorrow that might be better suited for the effect.

So full, so empty

Bread, bread, bread, and a skeptical look.

Pushing tasty, odd treats.

Happiness.

More pictures of people around the night markets today. Hoping to go explore a bigger night market this weekend and snap some more pictures. I just noticed the scaling on these pictures is pretty crappy. I think I need to start scaling down my photos before I upload them. Until then, please view the pictures by clicking on them; I promise they look way better.

Food photos are definitely coming. I'm saving all of them for one massive post.

Qing Ming Jie

Today was a Taiwanese national holiday. Qing Ming Jie, a day where the entire family gathers together to honor those who have passed away.  It was nice to see the whole group of relatives gathered in one place. The two pictures from above are from the mountains where we went to pay our respects to my ancestors. I have more photos of the actual event and such, it was just easier to edit and put up the pictures of scenery.

So Close, Yet So Far

Selling fish on the streets, Taipei, Taiwan

Hard at work making sugar cane juice, Taipei, Taiwan

The pulse of a city is measured through its people. People define it, craft it, shape it to make it their own. In an attempt to properly document Taipei, I'm trying to take more photos of the people. It's not an easy prospect; capturing people with a camera always poses an awkward moment. So far, the people I've taken photos of have been busy people, so they don't stare suspiciously at me after I've snapped a photo. The streets of Taipei are always alive, and over the next few weeks I'll attempt to capture this life with a click of my camera.

Until It's Gone

Kopi left today, so I took some portraits of him. It was hard to get him to stand still, but I enticed him with treats. Dogs are such suckers for food.  I didn't think I would miss him, but now that he's gone, the house seems a bit emptier. It's hard to appreciate things in the here and now. No matter how many times I tell myself that, I never seem to learn.
